FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
San Diego, April 20, 2022 | Aptera Motors has acquired the Human Machine Interface company, Andromeda Interfaces, Inc. in an all-equity deal. This strategic decision enables an expedited integration of Andromeda’s Central Infotainment Display (CID) solution and UI/UX functionality within Aptera production vehicles. The acquisition comes during a fundamental period of growth as Aptera ramps up to full scale production, indicating crucial forward momentum.
As a local San Diego company, Andromeda brings a history of increasing valuation for EV companies, bridging the gap between what the UI/UX designers can envision and how engineers implement that vision onto the actual hardware. With existing relationships and decades of experience crafting next generation instrumentation, Andromeda will advance Aptera’s strategic growth and bring in additional revenue from clients such as Vantage Vehicles and Viridi Parente.
The benefits of this acquisition on Aptera’s functionality are fundamental, as Andromeda has developed the industry-disrupting Energy Tipster interface. Nearly all-electric vehicles have standardized digital interfaces that exclude data on how efficiency translates to the driving range. This correlation is often still a mystery for many people without an engineering background. So, Aptera’s Energy Tipster interface is challenging this standard by utilizing Isochrones by overlaying a polygon that will show areas that are accurately reachable based on the vehicle’s instantaneous and potential energy capacity. Aptera’s HMI will emphasize how you can improve and increase your range while driving. Efficiency is at Aptera’s core, and Andromeda enables drivers to make real-time adjustments to their driving experience to retain more energy.

Aptera Co-CEO, Chris Anthony, noted the importance of the acquisition:
“We’ve been lucky enough to have worked with Brian and the Andromeda team for many years, and we’re routinely amazed at their ability to disrupt the industry and put efficiency at the forefront of their technology. Acquiring Andromeda was the strategic next step as we ramp to production, and we’re confident that this acquisition will not only benefit our timeline, but also the end-user experience for drivers.”
Andromeda Co-Founder, Brian Gallagher, noted his personal history with Aptera and his excitement for the future of the acquisition:
“We formed Andromeda Interfaces due to our past experiences working on human-machine interfaces (HMIs) for EV power electronics at Aptera Motors back in 2007. We have since commercialized our HMI technology and targeted the growing commercial and industrial EV markets.
We converged our knowledgebase and technology to expedite the development efforts for Aptera’s production Central Infotainment Display (CID) solution. The merger and acquisition will allow Aptera and Andromeda to channel our efforts to meet the start of production timeline aggressively.”
About Aptera
Aptera Motors delivers the world’s most technologically advanced solar electric vehicles (sEVs), made possible by breakthroughs in battery efficiency, aerodynamics, material science, and manufacturing. A lightweight three-wheeler, Aptera is the first in a series of eco-friendly vehicles that will be offered for consumer and commercial use. It has the longest range of any production vehicle with 1,000 miles per charge and the ability to travel up to 40 miles a day on free power from its integrated solar panels. With only six key structural parts, Aptera’s unique body shape allows it to slip through the air using far less energy than other electric and hybrid vehicles on the road today.
