The Role

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for manufacturing line design and improvement. We are looking for a proven performer who is deliberate and has strong attention to detail. You will report to the Vice President of Procurement and Production. 

The Responsibilities

  • Lead manufacturing line design and launch, including bid package development, vendor selection, front-end engineering design, design reviews, fabrication, acceptance testing, construction, installation, and handover to operations
  • Iterate upon current manufacturing line design to ensure efficient and cost-effective, high-quality production
  • Provide technical support for the assessment of different manufacturing scenarios
  • Ensure manufacturing lines meet relevant metrics including OEE, cycle time, quality, etc
  • Conduct Make vs Buy analysis
  • Work closely with the engineering team to support design for manufacturing (DFM)
  • Identify, investigate, test, and validate innovative manufacturing strategies 
  • Iterate engineering design to meet functional requirements and lead vendors through mechanical, electrical, and software design reviews
  • Using cost breakdown data, analyze quote submissions 
  • Ensure production line meets requisite safety and quality standards, including OSHA 29 CFR 1910, as well as local laws and codes
  • Coordinate continuous improvement measures 

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other technical discipline
  • Exposure to the Plan for Every Part process (PFEP)
  • Relevant experience in industrial engineering, process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related field (Full-Time), relevant projects or publications in related fields (Internship), ideally Automotive or Technology industries
  • Experience with MES systems
  • Ability to travel as necessary
  • Enjoys troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Strong analytical ability to break down complex problems and data sets to derive actionable results
  • Strong collaborative ability and ability to work on a cross-functional team
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and work in a quickly changing start-up environment
  • Excellent decision making and problem solving skills 
  • Innovative mindset and ability to find novel solutions to complicated problems
  • Flexibility and adaptability, ability to pivot quickly
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (or related)
