Static uses for hydrogen fuel cells make MUCH more sense than do mobile ones.

Absolutely. The tech has its potential to replace diesel generators in many places including remote areas too.

Semi Trucks, “perhaps”, but not so much anything civilian auto.

There are some eco advertised developments and resorts in Mexico (as an example) that solely use diesel generators for power. Not really authentic eco friendly beyond a branding exercise that is too often location based; beautiful natural surroundings vs. what it actually is doing & did to negatively affect the environment and area simply by its own existence.
