Production at Lucid has begun‼️
(If price was irrelevant; “#DreamEdition” is for me).Lucid Motors starts production of the groundbreaking #LucidAir in Arizona, customer deliveries to begin in OCTOBER. #CARPORN
The Lucid Air Dream Edition is being made; limited numbers mean that variant is currently no longer being offered. It is possible to join the waitlist in case more become available, though prices start at $169,000. USD for that top tier offering.

Interesting to note that Lucid build an initial set of 40 beta prototypes – and then built and even larger set of gammas (their wording was “dozens more”…). Once they had the factory up and running they started cranking-out deltas…

When they opened up the Northern CA Lucid studio I got a chance to talk with Lucid’s CEO Peter Rawlinson, and he said that they had (at the time) 84 running prototype and test vehicles built and most were driving around, testing, and developing the vehicle. The engineering for the Dream Air was solid and impressive. Lucid shares Aptera’s drive for maximum efficiency, even though they cater to a very different market.

Is that not over kill? Do you know if the chassis remained the same or what changed, to where they could just reassemble parts of the previous builds into the production vehicle instead of wasting parts/money?
With the Aptera we know that the body is constructed so that the “chassis” would have a major change between alpha and beta, so previous builds are not likely to be as salvageable. But I’m no expert on this subject…

The more prototypes, the easier it is to do testing because you can run multiple tests simultaneously, rather than having to wait until another team is through with their testing. I believe the basic engineering of the Lucid has stayed the same throughout all four levels of prototyping – the changes were mostly about finessing and fine-tuning interior, exterior and software details.

Competition for the high end Tesla, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, Cadillac. If I were in the market for that kind of car certainly would pick a Lucid over the rest except maybe the Mercedes. Price is not that outrageous when compared to a Ferrari, lambo, Rolls, etc. The people who buy these kind of cars will think it is a cheap price for a green credential at the country club.
Too bad, they will give up the fun of driving an Aptera and we will leave them waiting at a charging station!
Lucid was kind of a rush to judgement to get production vehicles out and generate revenue. It is a complex vehicle with a lot of new Tec. It will be interesting to see what first build quality/reliability will be in the first year of production

For the money, I’ll take 3 long range Apterae, please. That’s one for each member of my immediate family. ????

Breeding stock: Just make sure to get the M3s from different factories, to keep the genes pure… ????
