Everything is heating up so much, mu post will probably not even be notice, but hear goes.

At time 1:33 a computer rendering is shown of the interior. I disliked the previous white on the doors, dash, and yoke. These have been replaced by what appears to be cloth, even the yoke. I hope the yoke is covered in cloth is a slip of the computer button.

I very much hope the left button on the yoke is not for turn signals. I want the turn signal control to always be in the same place and not move around the column when the yoke is turned. I do not see a turn signal stalk protruding from the behind the yoke on the left side. In previous pictures there was a turn signal stalk present.

Great video! Nice to see things are coming along, much slower than I’d like but still moving forward. I have no opinion on the wheel vs yoke decision but…. It’s kinda funny to me that in the same video where they discuss the benefits of the yoke they show the driver cruising out on the open road with his hand positioned at the top of the beta’s steering wheel.

The Beta’s steering wheel appears to be a bolt-on unit connected to a rigid post: No airbag to worry about…

Replacing that yoke with another or a regular wheel will cost me about $500. I’m hoping all this feedback to Aptera will convince them to redesign the yoke or offer another option. I don’t want to spend more money to fix a brand new car.

Some folks are concerned that Aptera doesn’t seem to be doing enough “real-world” testing of the Beta. Most of Aptera’s testing is done through digital simulation with costly real-world test serving to verify and validate the results of the simulations. https://youtu.be/7VuIllmE1OQ

At times 00:15 through 00:19, the rear suspension can be seen from two perspectives. It shows an adjustable control rod passing through a hole in the rear suspension arm. This, of course, is for testing. I expect the production version to consist of a fixed length control rod, and a swing arm made of something less expensive than a massive piece of milled aluminum.

That suspension arm is absolutely massive !

Hi, David. I gather you are referencing a video that is from Aptera and available on the Aptera website. For the benefit of newbies, whenever a video is referenced for the first time in a discussion, a best practice would be to include the link to the video. A matter of convenience for other forum members who dig into the discussion later. Appreciate your drawing my attention to this video.

Hmm. I had to search on YouTube for the video. Am I missing something on the Aptera website? I would assume they would provide a page that lists all their videos in one place. Anyhow, here’s the link:

This is a very good update. It provides much information about Aptera’s production plans.

They mentions the early motors will come from Slovenia and the production will move to the United States.

    Great stuff.

I was getting close to releasing a new 3d printable model with interior (just needed to finish the seats) and now I need to do 4 more updates with the new aerodynamics changes. The tail change is actually quite significant – hopefully won’t be too polarizing

@Curtis Cibinel The tail isn’t all that much different – it’s just comes to more of a knife-edge on the sides… The animation, though, was kind of unnerving – when they pushed it beyond an acceptable limit and it became all squirmy… The only other change seems to be the switch from grilles to ducts on either side of the license plate.

Thanks! Glad to see further refinements to the aerodynamics, drag is the enemy. I was kinda hoping they would round off the aft corners a bit more. Might help reduce drag and make it easier to reach inside the back hatch.

I like the new design even better. Just hoping you may find a way to reduce the width of the front, at least at low speed for parking in a garage. This thing is wider than my Model S and that’s already snug through the garage doors. BTW – Are the side cameras vs rear mirrors posing any issue for deliveries in 2022?

Regardless, the great recent updates were so enticing I finally decided to invest.

    Keep up the great work!

And this is just the Alpha cargo area: The Beta/Gamma cargo area is longer and deeper!

This is good. So many of the uninformed comments about Aptera on other fora revolve around knee-jerk assumptions about it’s supposed shortcomings, such as “I need a car with a trunk”

Next myth to debunk: crash safety.

Nothing. More substance from the teaser pics and gama video. Only conclusion, not done yet. Still don’t know if the three interior are still in play.

He tries to be trendy by substituting words that would normally not be used. The rest of the time it is hot air that says nothing of substance.

He did say one thing though. He indicated the “center” rear view screen would be overhead, and the side view screens were in front of the driver.

I’m with John on this one. Designer speak with vague language and no details. What are the fabrics and why were they chosen? We can see the pictures and the colors. If this were an engineer talking about motor specs, you’d expect details about ratios, tolerances and output. But here it’s about philosophy and image. It’s as if we’re witnessing a fashion show talking about influence and motivation.

Material content, buttons, layout function and the reasons behind it. These are things that matter for the day to day enjoyment and experience for the driver.

Of course they haven’t finished it. I hate that we the investor, reservationist and supporter have to wait like the rest of the limited EV world to see the reveal at the Fully Charged show.

They said many Betas would be built. I saw one. They speak of the many Gammas to be built for crash testing, I am starting to doubt that as well. Time is running out. Show your Gamma at the show and get that Delta finished while building that production line because if they miss another failed production deadline/promise it will not look good for the company, investor or reservationist.

Don’t get me wrong, I want this company to succeed but when deadlines or promises aren’t met there needs to be explanations and not fluff pieces so that the rumor mill doesn’t get fed and spread.

Now we hear about needing money for production. Will this be another so close but no cigar?

I’m hoping for a vegan interior. We can’t seem to find a vegan interior aside from a few brands of electric car. I love the idea of the aptera and hope to see one in person in San Diego at Fully Charged Live. We hope there is at least a vegan option for the interior.

Notice, from a design standpoint, how the shape of the front end in this video mirrors the lower shape of the yoke.

They’re building a language of their design cues

Darn forum, meant for the discussion about the short video showing the front of the Gamma.

I agree, Paul. This thread was originally about the Gamma interior and seems to be drifting.

I had a conversation in a Zoom meeting with Jason Hill a few days ago and I don’t think I’m divulging any top secret factoid to relate that he asserted a full Gamma model will be at the Sept 10th Fully Charged event. I’m sure that will spawn many detailed videos from the usual internet sources. They should answer a goodly portion of the questions we have.

Ha Ha! in the video the graphic shows the Aptera being charged in the front with a Tesla shaped plug. Shades of things to come in the production vehicle or an assumption made by mistake because the video had to be finished ahead of a decision on charging

They didn’t need make false claims about the efficiency of competitive vehicles to look good, it just makes them look dishonest. For the ICE vehicle they didn’t use an MPG number they just gave a formula based on miles driven, an F350 and a Prius don’t have the same amount of CO2 emissions. For EVs they said the average EV uses 400Wh/mile, that’s clearly wrong. An Audi E-Tron uses 400Wh but there aren’t that many of them. 70% of the EV market is the 3 and the Y which get better that 250Wh/mile, for the remainder of the fleet Bolts, Leafs and the various Hyundai products are all in that range. Ford would have to sell a whole lot more Lightnings than they are to push the average EV up to the 400Wh/mile that they used in the video. Claiming 2.5X better would have been honest and it’s still a great number.

Joshua unfortunately this type of advertising has become standard in just about everywhere in our society. I have relatives that visit me from Europe that are astounded by our advertising on tv. My nephew who recently visited was shocked “ wow all your commercials are such lies “ . We are so desensitized at this point that most have no clue anymore. Advertisements are taking more and more liberties and have reached the realm of believe our lies.

Maybe though you should contact APTERA directly to ask how they came up with those stats.

This is a new video from Aptera. I will say one thing for them: Aptera makes good videos.

At time 1:38, it shows Aptera employees in the assembly building appearing to be working with a robot. This appears to be the same robot in the latest production video. Apparently Aptera already has production equipment in the building. Perhaps they are programing the robot how to move and handle equipment. Is that a real piece of equipment to go into the vehicle? (Surely not.)

Regardless, it looks like things are happening.

Just recycled video fluff; no hard content. I wonder how many of those who appeared in it were among the 18 recently fired? Why not make a NEW video without the defunct Alpha and Beta vehicles, just with the Gammas or better yet, the Deltas?

@kerbe2705 In their 11/18/2022 SEC filing, this is at the top of the page:

“As Aptera Motors Corp. (“Aptera” or the “company”) progresses from its design phase into production, the company has eliminated 18 positions. This decision was made to better leverage internal and external resources and to help Aptera achieve its maximum potential going forward. The next milestone is having a Delta vehicle design completed by the end of the year, which the company is on track to accomplish.”

You can find the SEC filing at: 253G2 (sec.gov) .
