Something we haven’t seen before!

So far we’ve seen Aptera doors and hatch open or closed – but we’ve never caught them in the act of actually opening or closing! https://fb.watch/87fclRhpKN/

I fully understand your interest, and the same thought occurred to me. However since only the “Alpha” models have been built, and they have mentioned modifications to the doors at some point. I am willing to wait and see a fully vetted version of the doors opening and closing.

Well, looks like your timing for this question couldn’t have been better. (It’s actually not a real great tweet, the headline trumpets the cargo room, and then she pulls out a mostly empty appearing handbag and a smallish basket, plus the way she walks away, some will get the idea that the doors and hatch will close themselves.) https://twitter.com/aptera_motors/status/1439650556902088708?s=20
Sunday errands? With 25 cubic feet of luggage capacity, Aptera offers plenty of room for you and all of your cargo. What do you plan to take with you in your Aptera? pic.twitter.com/xkNmCOgh1t

It was mentioned in a webinar, the aptera may be openable by various means.
One way was by waving you hand upwards over the three side lights. The aptera would pop open a small amount, then the driver would insert their fingers in the open gap, move a lever, and the door would open. I assume this would only be possible after the vehicle sensed the person’s fob. Then the aptera could be locked by waving your hand downward over the same three side lights.
Another way was by using the person’s phone.
This may have been a Jason Hill webinar.
I got the impression the door opening/closing methods were not necessarily finalized.
I look forward to later versions showing these things.

I don’t recall the mention of a lever – just that one could grab the edge of the door to open it fully once “popped” – similar to the doors of the Ford Mach-e.
As the doors of the beta will have a slightly different shape and more vertical profile (due to the slightly widened roof) it will be interesting to see how that affects the opening of the doors.

Here you see the doors opening and see and hear the door closing:<
