If you developed a sun shield that fits just past the steering wheel instead of right up against the glass that directs the rays downwards onto the solar panels in the dash board and maybe the hood, would that improve the solar charge while parked?

Edit: Perhaps it could be a retractable one, so it’s angled right everytime its deployed. The sun shield itself could even be a retractable solar panel.

I had the same thought, but I think you might have thermal issues with that design – you’re basically creating a solar oven. Someone in another thread suggested making the entire top of the dash rotate upwards to act as a sun shade while still exposing the solar panels, which could be complicated physically but seems like a better solution overall.

An alternative concept is to design the entire dash to split and hinge up near the window. This was originally thought of by Riley in another thread. The problem is really that it would need to be integrated into the design from Aptera because it would be tricky to make such a major change to the design of the dash.
