Zach, I believe you received your number after APTERA reshuffled their numbers…I’m January 2021 and I’m around 6900. This is why with the numbers they are using now that I am for some reason expecting them to be using 40,000 numbering with higher reservation numbers.

Dumb question, maybe. I just made my reservation today. How long until it shows up on your dashboard?

I asked a long time ago where everyone was getting these numbers from, but nobody responded.

Anyway, I put in a reservation last November, and the only place I see anything is on the “Review Orders” page. However that number is way too low based on what everyone else is seeing, so I looked over the code on the “My Account” page that shows the delivery date estimate, and that has a variable called “reservation number” which was about 25k higher.

The order number is under my account -> view orders. This numbering started roughly suptember 2021. Anyone before that has a different set of numbers starting at 10,000. The order numbers in the current series include canceled reservations and purchases of Aptera swag so it doesn’t represent just vehicle reservations. Actual delivery order will be based on location, options etc with those near Aptera being first. Some options like safety pilot might not be available initially (awd definitely won’t be) so having these options selected could delay delivery.

OK. Finally found my order. Number 45506. Latest I saw on an Aptera video was 27,000 preorders. Looks like it’s really taking off.

Don’t try and use that number as a gauge of total reservations or how many people are ahead of you. The numbers being issued now are not usable for that according to Aptera itself. Use your date of order and the announced totals from Aptera. There is a confirmed Aptera release of a total of 30,000 plus as of August 30th and a fairly reliable estimate of 32,000 plus as of 9/11/22. We can expect an increase in the rate for awhile due to the show and the associated videos and publicity. It won’t really take off until the general public starts to see it, not just EV and Car types.

Maybe we should ask attendance at the current Detroit Auto Show if any one Brand got the attention that Aptera did at the Fully Charged LIVE ( share some photos/videos). Aptera was “ Charged”!

I am sometimes not comfortable around that many people… Not this time!

I enjoyed a few talks too… in the very open convention hall

I would like to see a counter showing the number of reservations. With the rate of reservations increase, I doubt daily would be needed. Maybe weekly?

My order number is 895 and I’m confused on what this means as well. I saw a thread that orders started at 10000, so I don’t get it.

I ordered a Noir, 60 Kwh, Vida interior out of Boston with FWD and full solar. I’m toying with the idea of switching to AWD, but that kind of acceleration for a hyperefficient vehicle doesn’t totally make sense to me. I’d like to know what the efficiency tradeoff is before making that decision.

BigSky, I’ll guess that you ordered in August of 2021 in that case. (The issued reservation numbers are kind of a hot mess and according to Aptera, they don’t actually represent your place in the queue.) Order numbers reset in early August 2021 and started from zero, they also do not appear to be continuously sequential from that point, so you need to work from your date of order mostly.

Thanks for that background. Good to know I’m not crazy and, yes, I did order in August of 2021. At this stage, I settled in and will patiently wait for my time. I am curious to know how many orders there were prior to August 2021 though.

I’m 2100ish from Oct 2, 2021. I thought I was around 14,000 which would make you 16,000. Not all will convert and location is a factor.

        My options:

400, custom colour (ideally cosmic ppf from flexishield), Awd, vida, solar hood, safety pilot

When referrals go through: all the other options except camping and lots of tees

Wasn’t the Dec. ’21 update “over 15,000 orders”? Thought for sure if there was a higher, even thousand, number they would have gone with that. Any way, what’s a couple of thousand orders when I’m on the Northeast coast…400, luna, 2wd, full solar, maybe off road

My order number from March 2022 is 12172 so it is impossible for there to have been 15,000 3 months earlier (unless there were 3,000+ cancellations in those 3 months).

That is the number from autoevolution.com article dated Jan 20, 2022 “Aptera revealed in its December 2021 update that it had surpassed 15,000 reservations for its electric trike.” It’s there, item number 18 out of 21 of the year’s highlights.

Dennis, only the earliest reservation numbers are actually close to their actual position in the queue, and also are a fair representation of the total reservations. Any numbers issued after early August of 2021 really have no true basis to gauge either of those items. (Aptera reset and changed the way numbers were issued at that time.)

Approximate Formula for “place in line” (not accounting for options / location):

              • If Pre Aug 2021: Order Number – 10000
              • If Post Aug 2021: (Order Number x 0.66) + 12000

From what I’ve understood the “reset was to just lop off 10,000 and then continue on from the highest number after that.

“From what I’ve understood was the “reset was to just lop off 10,000 and then continue on from the highest number after that.” No not at all. It was a replacement of the entire website, which included the ordering system. Anyone who tells you you can add this or subtract that to get the total, or you actual position is just plain wrong. (These same folks were quoting 45K + reservations a while ago but seem strangely quiet now.) The numbers (Which I watch) are not consistent. You just have to go by your date of reservation and announced totals from Aptera, at least until Aptera decides to issue better guidance.

Just to make it a bit more surrealistic, there is very likely another person out their with an order number 12172, issued in Dec 2020 or Jan 2021.

So order 8824 from Feb 2022 means: (8834 * 0.66) + 12000 so you should be around 17830. With that high of a number location/options probably doesn’t make a difference (apart from maybe those needing RHD)

Unofficial Formula which seems to fit the data:

      • If Pre Aug 2021: Order Number – 10000
      • If Post Aug 2021: (Order Number x 0.66) + 12000

Unlikely. They will probably have all battery options shipping long before your order would be up. If you had ordered in Feb 2021 then absolutely it would make a difference.

You can always change your configuration in a year if it seems like they are plowing through orders and the battery sizes have not started to ship but at this point it does lilttle than give them an idea of the ratio of what people want.

Curtis, I like the idea of a formula, unfortunately the order numbers now being given out are not advancing at an even pace with the reservations. I concur with the approximate position for Paula’s order. (I figured in the low to mid 18,000’s by dead reckoning.) it seems to be close for the first few months. But if you plug in the later numbers in Jeanne’s chart it’s getting much further off, for whatever reasons. (May include merch and changes, and Aptera may be reserving some amounts for themselves, fleet sales etc.)

See my reply to Curtis above. Your reservation date would be on or around 8/28/22 based on another similar number above, shortly after that date (8/30 IIRC) Aptera officially announced 30,000+ reservations, so you can probably consider that your ballpark.

As Curtis says (And I have said he same thing.) After the first 5 or 6 thousand are in production, range and most items shouldn’t factor into it. Orders placed by mid February 2021 numbered 8,000+ so even with discrepancies, cancellations and foreign orders that should probably account for enough.

Also order of introduction for production was clarified and verified by Aptera. It is still 400-250-600-1,000.

Order modifications seem to sometimes issue a new order number. Aptera bases your place in the queue on the original order date. (Which is why, at this point, your order date is what is important, not the order number, the number doesn’t indicate your position or the total number of orders taken.) Aptera has the information needed to determine your place. (Hopefully someday they may share it with us again.)

No problem there Scott, I’ve never changed mine. I do monitor and keep track of a lot of posts here and elsewhere. We do know that early on there were a lot of verified instances of it happening. I’ve also seen several people reporting recently with reservations made in the last few months that it happened to them. It doesn’t appear to cancel the original number, just issue a change order number in addition I agree it doesn’t seem to happen all the time, and by the number of reports I see, it’s probably not often. The main thing is I totally agree with your original statement, in the sense that your place in line doesn’t change, even if they give you a separate order number for a change.
