Given the width in particular, are there plans for including the cameras necessary for a virtual 360 / top down view (for parking at the very least)?

I really hope this gets added eventually as it is a very useful feature. Not sure if Aptera will have the cameras by default but repurposing the ones as part of safetypilot would seem possible. I suspect it is unlikely safetypilot will be ready with the initial release but I would expect it is a popular option; I consider it effectively mandatory. Every vehicle I have driven which was made after 2015 has had the parking view and generic units are available from amazon. Steve from Aptera Owners club believes the wheel mods may have a sonic range sensor for parking but a virtual 360 view is far more useful.

@Steven Sashen Every Aptera will have at least five cameras (front, 2 sides, rear-view, reversing) so stitching their feeds together to create a virtual 360 should be just a matter of software coding.

In my Bolt EV the bird’s eye view is implemented using, among others, downward facing cameras in the sideview mirrors.

Useful feature for sure. My Tesla Model 3 has the equivalent of this feature and once you get used to having it, it becomes a necessity. I think the cameras for the safety pilot are the best candidates for this feature. The software work is extra unplanned effort (Not originally in the plan) so may take some time to show up as an over the air update if the hardware is already installed in the vehicle for safety pilot.

It’s been some time ago so things may have changed but Chris mentioned having a “top down view” when asked about help with parking. He didn’t go any deeper into it though.

Sorry if this has been mentioned already. Aptera should have a 360 degree view of the vehicle on their website. This gives a potential customer a better feel for what they can expect without seeing it in person. Maybe they’re waiting until production intent to put one up but thought I’d just mention it.

    Something like this:
