As soon as I saw it in noir black I grinned from ear to ear and thought to myself “Its a BATMOBILE!”

So I’ll be calling mine The Batwing.

Aptera inSOLation is the name I like – exposure to the sun’s rays. The amount of solar radiation reaching a given area.

Maybe too technical for the masses.

Keeping the emphasis on the suns involvement.

      How about,

      SUNSTER

The Aptera Drag E Racer as in “drag eraser” and similar to “drag racer” implying fast acceleration. It is also an “E racer”!

I know this is a silly name suggestion, but I like the humor and meaning in it (but I’m not making this as a serious recommendation).

    Just for fun…

Few take much about this topic seriously so don’t fret that anyone will think less of you for your effort at humor.

I was just reading another topic about crash worthiness and suggested a full-restrain racing seat with six-point belts and built-in head restraints.

That conjured, in my mind, a new Aptera model I’ll jokingly call the “Cocoon”. Not terribly funny but certainly descriptive.

On the numbering name idea, you lost me with the reference to undershirts … i.e. S,M, L, XL … but I do like the 232 or 233 designations for the number of motors.

What I suggest for the battery designation is a bit different:

SS _ Standard (sized battery) Small

      RS – Regular Standard battery

SL – Standard sized battery Large

SX – Standard sized battery xtra-large

Examples: SS-233 Super-sport (possibly the fastest Aptera)

RS-233 – Rallye Sport – best effort for range and power

233-SL – Sport Luxury – Few things are more luxurious than going 600 miles on a charge. (probably some trim differences as well)

      233 SX – Sports “X” = ’10’ as in 1000 miles range.

I’ve always thought the model name Audacity, as in Aptera Audacity would reflect the company’s unique attitude and place in the EV world. Plus, like many legacy automakers, it starts with the same letter as the company, much like Ford had the Fusion, Fiesta and Fairlane.

I am so thankful that none of you will be naming this vehicle.

My parents had a sheepdog named “Ralph”. I think I will name my Aptera “Ruby” however. Especially if I can find a good looking Candy Apple Red vinyl cover. 👅

Given the Curiosity Stream video which described its aerodynamics in regard to ground effect I guess the name should be Catfish… Ya lets not call it that. It always struck me as very aquatic but unfortunately relevant names like Orca, Dolphin and Seal are all taken.

As has been said it is probably fine as is but Aptera Triad or Aptera Trinity would both be good options.

Darwin (after the dolphin from the 1990’s sci-fi TV show Seaquest), since the vehicle body shape is inspired by that of a dolphin. I suppose you could play on the “evolutionary” angle as well.

If it needs a name, it needs to be a simple one, preferably 1 syllable. If Aptera stands for wingless flight, then I’d consider calling it “Flight” based on its aerodynamic design.

    How about Freedom

    Freedom from gas.

    Freedom from charging

    Freedom from dealers

Freedom from being prevented from doing your own maintenance.

Considering that “Aptera” means “wingless” then the name of the car should clearly be “Nymph”. And the “gullwing” doors should better be called “elytra” doors.

There are no “Gullwing” doors on Apterae, they are “Butterfly” doors.

I have seen many references to Aptera 2e. Two passenger, electric?

The 2e refers to the version of the Aptera (from 2009) with the current one being sorta v 3. v 1 was the very first with an ICE drivetrain and I think v 2 was the hybrid drivetrain.

Well, the first ones are already named “Aptera LE” with the possibility that the VERY first batch or so will be the “Aptera LE Paradigm”.

Actually, if the current version is #3 then the MOST current PHYSICAL version would be “Aptera 3Γ” while the CGI version is the “Aptera 3Δ”
