What is probably going to happen is Aptera will get what the FJ Cruiser, Jeep, CJ7, etc.. communities thrive off of which are online forums. There will only be one and it’ll be where everyone goes to for upgrades, replacing bad parts, how to handle the inevitable “oh you have a 2024, all those had a bad [fill in the blank]” discussions. I doubt more than a few will take these to a mechanic for anything and that every city pretty much now has an “EV only” shop as mentioned in one of the latest AOC videos.

I tried to get “APTERA” on a personalized license plate in Colorado but they wouldn’t allow it. I checked and no one has it, I even called and they wouldn’t offer an explanation but they did confirm that it didn’t look like it was taken yet; they simply don’t want that word on a plate?!? I know it means ’without wings’ and is usually applied to insects or Greek mythology with the Sirens vs Muses and all that… but why is it so offensive I can’t get it on a plate you think?

I got this instead; some Tesla already had SUNPWR which is what I wanted.

I guess if someone said they would give me a car that would never need refueling for $34k or more I don’t think I would care. That’s called an investment. My children will never pay for electricity nor gas ever again either… and their children… and 50 years from now when the average car is 150K they will say “what would you have done if you could have bought a car 50 yrs ago for $34K that never needs gas or electricity?”… they’d say that was the deal of a lifetime and anyone not buying that car was an idiot. Bitcoin/Coke/Apple/IBM/Tesla anyone?

    Hi,

I didn’t see this anywhere in the comments, but I wonder if there were any discussions about wireless charging for Aptera 2.0 (2.0 = 2nd generation… whenever that may come.) Tesla is in talks to buy Wiferion which would be pretty amazing buy for them. I like this idea since I am convenience oriented and live in a cooler climate.

There are still 856 vehicle spots open but there is a pause now for us, I’m assuming the non-accredited investors will eventually get another shot at the remaining slots, if I’m reading it correctly?

The money doesn’t go to the consumer nor does the dealership have to give the credit to the lessee, since the dealership owns the car it goes straight into the pockets of the dealerships owner. It will not be passed on to the consumer.

I haven’t seen anyone talk about regenerative suspensions (example: GigPerformance.com) on this forum yet, but I don’t read them all.

Gig have a suspension that generates power from all the bumps in the road, similar concept to regenerative breaking. Seems like they are working on products for cars, not just semi trucks.

I could see this being put on the rear wheel, maybe all 3, but perhaps these things don’t work with all the computers the suspension they have had to put into it so far.

Would be fun to see what all you enthusiasts and engineers think.

I would test that 3.5 0-60 with YYZ from Rush

Not me. Chris has thought long and hard about this. If his boats can last a decade with these wraps the car should do well.

I’m flying to San Diego and driving it back to Denver, that would be an awesome way to get used to her and test out the range. I got the 1K mile just for road trips and winter comfort.

“That looks like something you Enneagram 4’s would buy.”

“Oh I can’t be seen with you in that.”

“You won’t drive that for real will you?”

“That won’t fit in your garage.”

“Why would you want that? Are you sure you want all that attention?”

Then I tell her the stock has done a 16x and aren’t even selling cars yet….

“This looks like a nice car!”

I’m in Colorado US and am wondering which insurance companies might carry coverage for something like this?

Out of all the comments, this one hit me the hardest. Man. I have read many of Jerry’s comments which have always been exciting and out of loyalty, and for him to legitimately say he wishes he could take his money back is very very heavy.

Chris, Steve… Quincy… read his comment over a few times. I was an original holder from 2009 and I have never seen such a comment. Make this right.
