Earlier this month, we teased you with this image and invited your guesses.
And now, the secret is out! Today, we’re excited to tell you about our Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), a cutting-edge fleet of high-tech robots that will propel us toward the production of our Launch Edition vehicles.
But what exactly are they, and how do they contribute to Aptera’s final assembly process?
AGVs are the backbone of streamlined manufacturing, employed by many companies like Amazon, Tesla, Airbus, and Ford. At Aptera, we utilize these autonomous robots to simplify our production process and reduce factory buildout expenses. Picture our AGVs gracefully shuttling Apterae between assembly stations, orchestrating a seamless symphony of precision craftsmanship.
With each vehicle spending precisely 12 minutes at each station before the entire assembly line progresses, our AGVs give us unparalleled efficiency. Gone are the days of halting production for lengthy changeouts or modifications. We can effortlessly expand the line to support new options, such as battery pack sizes and exterior color configurations. The agility of our assembly line knows no bounds.

In the past, traditional conveyance systems limited the ability to expand or duplicate assembly lines across different factories. Companies relied on conveyor belts, forklifts, and cumbersome infrastructure that hindered growth. However, with AGVs, the need for extensive modifications or building adaptations has become a thing of the past. We can swiftly ramp up production and seamlessly establish operations in new factories, breaking the barriers of traditional automotive manufacturing.
The arrival of these extraordinary robots signifies Aptera’s unwavering commitment to accelerating the production of our solar electric vehicle. Thanks to the remarkable support of our community and the investments through our Accelerator Program, we are forging ahead with the procurement of vital long-lead-time equipment and the commencement of tooling for Aptera’s revolutionary carbon body (BinC).
What’s next on our horizon? The anticipation builds, and we assure you, it’s worth the wait.
Stay tuned, because the best is yet to come.
