I was planning on DIYing this when I got my aptera, ultimately I won’t know untell I get one but I am hoping to make one that doesn’t block the dash panels while still blocking the sun out of the rest of the cabin.

Nope but I’m still planning on pulling off the yoke installing an aftermarket wheel and just wiring the button things to the dash.

It will depend a lot on how well insulated the Aptera is along with the climate your camping in, and if your using the tent attachment I feel like you would basically be wasting power as I dont think fabric tents hold in the heat or cold super well. My Volt will pull between 1kw to 3kw for AC. Heating on the other hands will pull a lot of power for me it’s up to 9kw in my car so idk about winter camping. I feel like this will be a thing without a good answer until someone does it irl.

At this point the only real deal breaker would be subscriptions. Aptera doesn’t want to supports Android Auto? That’s fine but if I’m forced to pay a subscription for Aptera’s navigation software than I would not get the vehicle. Along with that any subscription, I know a car company recently made there heated seats a subscription service and I hate that idea.

A couple things that are almost a deal breaker for me but I’m willing to give it a try are the giant touch screen infotainment center and climate controls with no physic buttons, the Yoke and finally the tiny side mirrors.

I personally love physical buttons, I think there much safer in a car and easier to use. As for the yoke I just don’t consider it safe considering it makes turning the “wheel” past 90 degrees harder ontop of the fact I personally think it just looks terrible. I understand that no side mirrors or tiny side mirrors make the vehicle more aerodynamic but I personally would take slightly less efficiency for real side mirrors.

The ability to expand the solar input would my number one option I would love, it would make charging while camping nice or if I just don’t want to plug the vehicle into grid power. Next thing would be Android Auto, in fact it makes me a little nervous that vehicle isn’t coming with AA. Assuming there is onboard navigation is it going to be free of is it going to be an extra cost?
