    For those special occasions one could install an hard “topper” which would become an easy fix for installing a rear-facing 3rd seat for if you were in a pinch having to transport 3 passengers (including the driver). It’d not be the most efficient, but given the ample range, it could get one out of a pinch.

    Somebody just published yet another “emergency gas can” here: https://twitter.com/fanfare100/status/1657876443240570883 Enjoy! What do you think about this? You can plug this in at work or at an hotel or AirBNB when you stay overnight somewhere.

    Hi Lou! That has also been somewhat an aspect of my initial observation, but I will say that I have helped add diversity to the equation and times, they might be a changin’. XD Of the 7 investors I’ve attracted this is their racial/ethnic background:
    1) White ((Swiss / Italian) (dad)) in his 80s
    2) White ((Anglo-Saxon) (work colleague)) in his 40s
    3) 1/2 Indian + 1/2 Panamanian (childhood friend) in his 40s
    4) Indian (from India) (long time friend) in his 60s
    5) Indian (from India) (friend (son of former high-school classmate & friend)) in his 20s
    6) Mix ((Austrian/Polish/Ukranian/Italian/Jewish/Persian/Swiss, African, Native American) (self)) ~60
    7 Mongrel “Heinz-57”: ((Austrian/Polish/Ukranian/Italian/Jewish/Persian/Swiss/French/German/British, African, Native American) (son)) in his 20s

    I think that initially it is logical that older white men are more inclined to have expendable income, but as the word gets out and traverses racial and ethic and geographic barriers you will see some more sprinklings of diversity.

    Also, of many of those who were already poised and posed to invest were, many were already pre-qualified, but once the word got out than unqualified pee-wee investors could participate, the flood gates opened for Joe Schmoes like my friends and me to enter the loop.

    IMHO, Aptera will be like the rising tide that will help others who have previously been disenfranchised from investor finance to join the fray as well.

    And wait ’till 3 to 5 years once our shares are converted into “stonks” how that valuation will be. To give you an example, imagine having purchased Tesla back when it was $10.50/share? Where would you be today? ;-D

    Wow! So the 1,000 mile version might weigh more than a Mitsubishi Mirage, which weighs: 2,095 lbs.

    Any idea if it will pass the crash test? Kandi America attempted to sell it’s vehicles here and ended up selling them at a discount as speed-regulated Neighbourhood EVs after they sat on the lot for 3 years because they could not pass the crash test.

    Hi Riley!
    So, I like all of the options you mentioned, and the option to expand battery capacity in the future but, you just gave me an idea 💡, hear me out:

    This would not be an option for me, because I do intend to buy as soon as Aptera is available for me to make my purchase. But one of the barriers to ownership may be linked to the state of our horrible economy (which is widening the gap between haves and have-notgs) and one way to bridge that gap may be to rent Apterae, with an option to own. Waddayathink??

    My intuitive hunch is that 100kW of battery weights considerably more than 25kW of battery.

    That being the case, and with weight being inversely proportional to range, to maintain the same amount of range, I might expect for actual batteries to be something more like this:

    25kW = 250 miles
    44kW = 400 miles

    76kW = 600 miles

    126kW = 1,000 miles

    Does my pseudo-logic make sense?

    As Aptera comes to fruition, I also see the development of an ApteraQ-like group of haters. I believe that Sentry mode may at least catch evil-doing keyers and scratchers as this speciffic design will attract unexpected attention from both the good, as well as the folks who hate things that are green and efficient.

    Howdy, I too plan to use my Aptera as my primary vehicle. The last time I used the back seat on my Mitsubishi Mirage was last year when I went on a family workation, but I could have just as easily rented a Turo for that occasion. I swear I have rented on Turo.com for as low as $12/day, but I seem to average around $30/day when I do. So, I might even get rid of my trusty 3-cylinder Mistubishi Mirage once I have my Aptera.

    Even though I work remotely from my home, I travel a lot for my job. The trek I do most frequently is to the vicinity of where the Headquarters of the company I work for is located, which is about 190 miles away. But I usually don’t bungee in and bungee out, so I could easily drive there with my 400 mile range Aptera, then, usually, 3 days later, after it’s been parked in the sun, even on a rainy week, I would still have enough to make it back without ever having to worry about looking for a charging station the whole time that I am on travel.

    I’m an electronics engineer so if I ever have to carry anything in addition to my backpack and garment bag such as test equipment like power meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies and the such, that would very easily fit in the Aptera. But I usually don’t need to lug that stuff anyway.

    Also, for extra long cross-country trips, I might consider staying at camping sites or truck stops along the way and using the camping option for additional cost-savings. The Aptera will allow for environmental controls too whilst camping, which is kind of like glamping lol. I do make all of my business travels a bit of an adventure, so I look forward to this. And I love the fact that, of need be, the APtera can charge at a speed of up to 500 miles per hour at a fast-charging station, so, in the time that it takes me to do a nature break and catch a bite to eat, the battery will be topped off for another 400 miles range.

    This vehicle will not simply a toy, nor a show-offy thing, though I will be very proud of it. I intend it to be very functional and it will likely rack up a lot of miles just like my Mistubishi Mirage which has 150K miles on it and still drives like new. The MSRP on my Mirage was $12,500 when I bought it so my Aptera will cost me > 2X as much, and I’ve been able to eke out > 64 mpg on my Mirage so the cost savings and ROI in comparison to what I’m driving will only be a little but it’s also my contribution to energy independence and it can serve as backup during power outages, which I have a lot of in my neck of the woods. I live out in the sticks! lol

    41kW (400 mile range Aptera) can run a:
    Fridge = 200W = 205 hrs
    My main AC wall unit = 600W = 68 hrs
    My microwave oven = 700W = 59 hrs

    Fan on my wood stove in the winter = 50W = 820 hrs, so I won’t freeze in the winter

    My laptop = 75W = 547 hrs

    Each LED lamp light = 12 W = 3,417 hrs

    And that just gives an idea as to what an Aptera can do in the event of a power outage. Likely we would run a combo of these things, but not all of them at t he same time and even a refrigerator doesn’t run it’s compressor full time and we are not always microwaving food.

    I can’t wait to get my hands on mine!

    Thanks John. That looks like an interesting step, although by the time that makes it to the U.S. it will likely be tagged with an MSPR of 2X that much.

    Why not a telescoping wheel skirt that can be manually raised and lowered at will dependent upon which if the owner wishes to take their Aptera off-roading. ;-D

    At some future time I can only imagine a software-defined auto-tunes suspension based on what it foresees as the road conditions lying ahead.

    I actually like the yoke. A deal-breaker for me may either be:
    A) Further delay in delivery
    or
    B) Increase in price for existing reservation-holders, ala Rivian.

    Aside from that, I can’t think of any other.

    Good use of real-estate. I believe the ones in the middle of the trunk lip were omitted because they’d be more subjected to damage from when people load and unload stuff from the rear trunk hatch. Lots of people tend to slide things of bang things as they put things in and out making me actually wonder if a trunk protector for loading and unloading might be a good detail option.

    Imagine if the centre arm console were to be made just a tad wider and then when you lifted it up it would turn into a smaller centre 3rd seat?

    IMHO “Ownership As A Service” is to abolish the American Dream, which may have evolved to become a mirage anyhoo.

    The pause is not officially until Sunday the 11th of June! That’s why there has been a mad rush the past 2 days and will likely continue to be so until the drop dead date of the 11th of June after which only rich investors can invest.

    George Hughes, I love your imagination. And I don;t mean that in a snide or sarcastic way. This is what dreams are made of. And often the realities that we form begin with a dream, a vision and from there a mission and then the mission plan and from that the course of action and then the actual tasking and work and then the product or result. JIT, if done right can allow for the decentralisation of manufacturing as well as the geographic distribution and elimination of single points of failure as well. Each facility would be placed where there is most regional and then local area demand.

    I once threw an extension cord off a balcony during a deep freeze in which there was a several-day power outage so that I could operate a space heater, a light and my laptop from an inverter I had in my little Mistubishi Mirage. I could get up to 1,200 Watts out of the little 3-cylinder engine in my Mirage.
